Hall succeeds Glen Wilson, who steps back into the role of Vice President after thirty-five years at the helm, ensuring a smooth transition and continued stability for the Association.
A familiar face in Townsville’s touch football community since early childhood, Hall has served the Association in several committee roles since 2007, including eight years as Junior Director, seven years as Referees Director, and the past four as Technical Director.
He was conferred Life Membership of the Townsville Castle Hill Touch Association Inc. (trading as Townsville Touch Football) in July 2023 alongside long-time volunteer Sue Salter, recognising his sustained contribution to the sport’s governance, referee development, and representative programmes.
Throughout his tenure as Technical Director, Hall has overseen major advancements in referee education, competition structures, and representative coordination, including the introduction of new referee development pathways and the strengthening of partnerships with the Townsville Touch Referees Association.
Among his crowning achievements is the establishment of the Townsville Saints representative programme, which he was heavily involved in developing from a concept idea into a fully functioning pathway now encompassing players, coaches, and referees.
The programme builds on the efforts of a small number of dedicated coaches and parents who first brought a Townsville side to the Queensland Junior State Cup in 2019 and has since grown through the support of a passionate and hardworking volunteer team.
He also led the creation of the ANZAC Day Challenge, which ran for the first time in 2025, providing a unique opportunity to honour the service of Australia’s Defence Force personnel while establishing a lasting connection between Townsville Touch Football and North Queensland Defence Touch.
Most recently, Hall has led the process to re-establish TTF’s Technical Panel, which will see the coordinators of TTF’s technical portfolios (referees and coaches) and the TTF Representative Coordinator work collaboratively to drive the development of future players, coaches, and referees.
Taking on the presidency, Hall said he looks forward to continuing the strong legacy built under Wilson’s leadership and ensuring the Association remains at the forefront of the sport’s growth and innovation.
“Townsville has always been one of the most respected affiliates in the country, and that’s a credit to people like Glen [Wilson] who’ve given so much over so many years,” Hall said.
“My focus moving forward is to continue strengthening our local competitions, representative programmes, and referee pathways, while keeping the same community spirit that has always defined us.”
Hall will be succeeded in his previous portfolio as Technical Director by current Junior Coordinator, Lachlan Carey, who was also reappointed to continue leading TTF’s junior sub-committee — Townsville Junior Touch Football.
Carey has been instrumental in the operation of TTF’s junior competitions over recent years and has worked closely with Hall to align referees with the Association’s representative operations, establishing the combined TTRA/TTF Representative Referees Development Programme.
The trio are joined by returning board members Paul Edmondson (Vice President) and Cherrie Pierce (Finance Director), with the Association’s full-time Administrator, Jan Wilson, continuing in her non-voting capacity as Secretary.
The appointments mark a period of renewal for Townsville Touch Football, combining fresh leadership with the continuity and experience of those who have shaped its success.
