The round is all about inspiring players, referees, coaches and families to ask that simple but powerful question – "Are you OK?" – and to start conversations that could make a real difference in someone's life.
This year's R U OK? Round will feature a splash of yellow both on and off the field, with participants and supporters encouraged to get creative. From yellow socks and shoelaces to face paint and even dyed hair, it's all about making the message visible. The only rule is that players must wear their normal club playing shirt or singlet during games – everything else can be yellow. For this round only, yellow shorts will also be permitted.
In the lead-up to the event, Townsville Touch Football's websites will "go yellow" and share R U OK? resources across digital channels. Across both nights of competition, PA announcements will also highlight the importance of checking in on those around us.
R U OK? fundraising merchandise will be sold throughout the round, with all proceeds donated directly to the organisation. Donation boxes will also be set up in the clubhouse, at the administration window, bar, and canteen to make it easy for everyone to contribute.
TTF’s Junior Competitions Coordinator, Lachlan Carey, said R U OK? Round continues to be one of the most important themed rounds on the calendar.
"Touch football has always been about community, and R U OK? Round is our way of shining a light on mental health and encouraging conversations that matter."
"We want to see as much yellow as possible out at Queens Park — whether that's socks, shoelaces, face paint or even dyed hair. It's a fun way for our juniors and their families to show support for a really important message, and we're proud to be part of it."
Thursday night's fixtures will feature Under 13 to Under 16 age groups, while Friday night will showcase Under 7 to Under 12 teams.
Everyone is encouraged to come along, wear yellow, and join the conversation.
